looking for a new (as in old cheap but new for her ) car for SWMBO but it needs to be a bit taller than the passat (03 SE PD130 estate). I have had her try a new shape fabia and that is just about tall enough for her but quite like the height of the A2, they seem well specced and economical but are there any things to be aware of apart from the high cost of crash damage repairs due to being aluminium construction?

Anyway, my dad had an A2 1.4 TDI for a few years. Suspension is firm, the ride quality will be worse than a Passat. I don't think my dad had any major mechanical issues with his.

I had read some reports of firm suspension so I imagine the 1.6FSI is to be avoided with the s-line kit

I read somewhere that the doors can fatigue and crack around the hinges, but I don't know how common that is.

I used to get them as courtesy cars from the Audi dealer and I found them nice to drive.
