00 fabia1.4mpi coolant keeps boiling over.

Featured Replies

hi all

as above says this started the other day when stuck in traffic.noticed the radiator fan was not coming on so i replaced that and put a new stat in and flushed the system and filled up with new coolant.all fine until today it happened again my thoughts now are that it can only be the water pump or maybe a dogy stat.the head gasket was done on the car 10 000 miles ago.

can anyone point me in the right direction.

thanks in advance ross

If there's a trickle of water from the small pipe over the top of the engine back, into the tank, this would indicate the water pump is working - I would imagine.

just looking on the internet about this issue.the coolant pipes do have a lot of pressure in them and this points to the head gasket being gone however there is no water in the oil or oil in the coolant.what else could be causing the coolant boiling over it happened today after driving maybe 15 miles i left the car cool down and topped up again and by the time i drove the car home the 15 miles it was happening again.

oh my head is wrecked

let the car run for five mins and there was a trickle of water from that pipe so i guess the water pump and stat are fine as the stat has to open to let the coolant pass.

could a head gasket go after only 10 000 miles.

Yes. You say the fan failed and you overheated. This could have distorted the head.

The head gasket went 10,000 miles ago. Was the head skimmed then to eliminate any distortion or warp? Was the repair done to a high standard?

The stats fall apart. I don't think it would block circulation but I could be wrong and the water in the block could boil as a result with a cool radiator. This could explain it or could spell doom for the head gasket.

Remove the stat housing and check the stat. Replace if it's in bits and cross your fingers. Refil coolant, bleed and drive. If it blows water out after that then it's probably the head gasket gone again. Get the head planed this time.
