Hey,

In february last year i bought my first Skoda, it was a Fabia '11, now I'm to small in that car and getting following:

Superb combi, 170hp TDI DSG

- 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel for radio and telephone

- Detachable tow bar

- Movable load net

- Electrical tailgate

- Bolero radio

- Bluetooth

- Park Pilot (parking sensors front and rear)

- Kessy

- Sunset

- Trifid rims

What do you think of this configuration?

Just ordered it and getting it delivered as a '13 in August.

/Peter

Same as mine,i would recommend you ditch the kessy and the sunset and have 3 spoke steering wheel ,with the cr engine skoda have made the car change into a high gear as soon as possible to obtain good fuel returns 6th gear at 40mph its too high with the paddles you will be able to flick it down a gear.also if park pilot is where the car Parke's itself its called park assist here unless you are always parking alongside kerbs its a wast off money it works very well but bit off a gimmick.

KESSY is both handy and a nuisance. I now like it as I am not always digging my hand in pocket to open doors. Initially I was forgetting to put the key in my pocket when changing trousers (always left the key in the old car at home in the garage). Electric tailgate is fantabulous. Flappy paddle are great except when moving off and turning at the same time, use gear stick. Park assist is a bit of a gimmick but in the city where parking is rare it tells you if you can fit or not; you can save time and money (parking fees) using it. The load nets are very useful as are the other gizmos, I use the extendable strap for carrying a Jerry can home from the petrol station. Enjoy.

I hade a limit on how much money i would spend on the car, and the packages where cheep :)

Steeringwhell = free

Towingpack: 390€ off

- Detachable tow bar

- Movable load net

- Electrical tailgate

Businesspack Bolero = 1000€ off

- Bolero radio

- Bluetooth

- Park Pilot (parking sensors front and rear)

- Kessy

- Sunset

- Trifid rims

So im not really spending that much money on Sunset and Kessy..

The only option would add if not standard on your car is hill hold assist.

If you live in a hilly environment you will appreciate the car automatically holding you for a couple seconds whilst you move from brake to accelerator with the DSG box fitted.

Is it even possible to run hill hold assist on DSGs? Thought that was only on manual gears.

I have had 2 Superb DSG's, one with and one without hill-hold and I much prefer with.

A DSG is not a conventional automatic that will either hold or even creep when the brakes are lightly applied. The DSG effectively de-couples the clutch with the brakes are applied (someone more technical than me can explain it better) and so when you move from brake to accelerator the car has no drive momentarily to the wheels and, hence, rolls back. So you get the dilema of "do i apply the handbrake?" which if you do and take your foot of the brake the drive re-engages to the wheels so the car wants to move and is being held by the handbrake.

For the low cost of the extra I would thoroughly recommend it as the difference on inclines is more controlled. See if the dealer can let you drive one witth/without,. I believe it is a better extra for DSG equipped cars than manual. A manual car can be held on the clutch and offers more control on inclines.

I think KESSY is great but I gather from the garage that few people order it.

I have had the car for 5 1/2 weeks and I really like the Kessy system. In fact I forgot that you can leave the key in your pocket and just open the door and start it. I still on the odd occassion still try and insert the key into the ignition. :giggle::doh:

I've just got mine with hill-hold on a 170 DSG Elegance estate and would say it's essential...so essential it should really be standard, I reckon.

why do you need hill-hold when your left leg is free assuming you have a left leg.?

bill

In Australia all cars with DSG in Elegance trim come with hill assist as standard. Compared to the set up in my wife's Citroen it is much more relaxing on hills. The whole point of a 2 pedal car is to let the left leg atrophy away on the dead pedal :-) After 40 years of manuals I am a convert but have to revert to old habits in the Riley with no synchro on 1st, cable/hydraulic brakes and those little semaphores that indicate left and right..... It also has press button starting LOL.

40 year old car with press button start and KESSY. Been there before so to speak.

I have it. it is very expensive for what it is, but very convenient,

Bill, Whilst you are absolutely correct in that left foot braking is an option, it's not for everyone, me included, and the £96 cost after VAT reduction makes it a low cost safety feature that I find takes the issue away and something less to worry about when driving.

Having driven DSGs with and without hill hold (Golfs without, Audi A3 with) I would go for it every time. Holding on the handbrake for any length of time will be bad for the clutch pack eventually I guess.

I've specc'd Kessy as I've driven other cars with it and like the function.

Left foot braking is not for me. If you're not used to it there's a tendency to overdo it and messing around swapping feet once stopped is just silly. Glad I managed to get HHC added to my build in time. It's already proved its worth just pulling out of the dealers courtyard.

According to the latest manual (April 2012) `Hill Hold Control` is standard on the 1.8 DSG.
