Octavia rear electric window failure

Featured Replies

Hi All

The rear nearside electric window on my Octavia no longer works, either from the rear door control or from the drivers door control. All the other windows are fine. When I try the controls, there is no noise at all from the window, no clicking or grinding noises, just doesn't work.

I have a Haynes Manual and had a look to see if I could locate the fuse, but the rear electric window is not mentioned. I have checked the fuse box on the side of the dash for any tripped fuses and they all look fine.

Are there any other fuse locations that I can check?

Is there anything else that I can check?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

mine stopped working today, but i can hear the motor moving. i guess its just let go of the glass

This happened to me. The plastic clips on the window glass had broken requiring a new regulator unit. Motor works but there is no tension on the wire so it won't wind the glass.

About £51 in the UK. It isn't difficult to fit but is a little fiddly and you need the right size tork screw drives, although a flat blade will work on the smaller sizes. The only issue I had was mating the winder to the motor and getting it the right way around. I had to reuse the screws as they were not included in the kit.

Hi All

I have narrowed the problem down to the motor. There is a faint click when I try to open the window from both the drivers door and the back door switch, so power must be getting to it.

I've taken a chance and bought a motor from a breakers, but it has come complete with the whole assembly. I now don't really know how to get the old motor off and the new one on. I've previously replaced the assembly on my drivers door because the cable snapped, but the motor worked. For this I had to get the whole thing out and switch over the motor before reattaching the whole thing.

Does anyone know if you can remove the motor in situ, or do I have to take the whole thing out before you can remove the motor? I've had the door panel off and had a good look, but with the window closed, I can't see how I'm going to get it off.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks
