Plea for a spare part -FIXED!

Featured Replies

Hello Folks,

I've put a post in the Wanted section, but thought I'd put one here too.

I need one of these,

I've finally had an autoelectrician who knows his stuff and he found the loom in the door was rotten. This means that the replacement part I put on has now been ruined too. After duff advice - not on here I hasten to add - it's nice to find someone who knows their stuff.

If you have one sitting in the garage,I'd appreciate knowing and will paypal the money straight over.

Thanks

Andrew.

drivers or passenger?

i might have one..

pretty sure thats drivers..

Yep. It's the drivers side.

Also, does anyone know the part number of either the motor and module or just the black box on it's own?

It does have to be right version. The box is not available as a separate part - it's considered an integral part of the motor. The one in the picture is not the version I expected, but without your VIN I can't be sure. If you PM me your VIN, I'll check for you.

Ah, that could be because it's a photo from an old thread, so it's not my actual part.

I've p.m'd you the VIN.

The window motor it needs to come from is part no 1U6 959 802 D. Yes, you can just replace the box.

Was the part you put on from this part number? If you have a VCDS log, you can check what's installed under the CCU (46) - extra fields.

You will be very lucky if someone has one - it's usually the control unit that dies.

Good Luck

Thanks for that. The part I put on was correct, but due to someone who led me astray, I attached it to the original loom. What I didn't know was that the loom was corroding unseen inside the block and it then killed the new box.

I now have a perfect loom in place and all I need is the box and the electrician reckons we'll be back in business.

Fingers crossed.

Just a thought. If it was a loom problem, does the box from the original motor work?

No unfortunately one of the pins was corroded beyond repair. I now have two ruined boxes.

Hopefully there's a replacement being posted to me by a member who's stripping a car. Trouble is, there's going to be a delay in getting it thanks to the bloomin' Jubilee.

Can you solder? If your replacement doesn't work out, it would be easy to move a good pin from one box to another. Hooking the sealant out from around the pins is a PITA but other than that...

Good point. I must have enough parts to make one box now. I'll see if the replacement comes through and works. If not, I'll delve back into my GCSE Technology skills.

Well, after two and a half years, the remote central locking is working again! Thanks for the advice and repeated help on this one, it has finally led to a working car again.

In the end it was a faulty loom which had not been spotted by previous garages. This caused the death of two boxes on the window motor. Now with a replacement loom and a new box, it's back to normal. All I have to do is get out of the habit of using the key each time I get into the car.
