Just wondering whether I should be worried about a bit of black smoke upon full throttle when I put my foot down hard occasionally.

Not noticed it before but my friend was following me and I floored it in 3rd and he said there was some black smoke. I know it's unburnt diesel but is it anything to be worried about?

Is it a vRS? I've yet to see a non smoky TDI vRS, they all seem to kick out some form of smoke when accelerating and given a bit of welly.

Totally normal i would say, if its a tdi. If you disconnect the egr valve vac pipe it should improve.

Normal for a TDI, especially VRS. If you do a long, fast run the bumper/tailgate gets sooty.

i find if i drive reasonable for a few days then give it a bit of welly in third i can get quite an impressive smoke screen

it is also worth checking or changing the air filter

Yes mine did that untill the boost pipes made a massive bang and i had them replaced.Now i hardly get any smoke at all

Black smoke = wasted fuel. Costs enough as it is.
