Featured Replies

I have been looking for a race blue vrs for a month or two now and am finding the prices a bit confusing.I am hoping to find an 06/07 plate with around 50/60 thousand miles,am after as many of the options as poss and much prefer the 18inch wheels...strange thing is,that dealers seem cheaper than the private sales. What do you guys think i should be paying for say an nice petrol 07 plate with around 60k on

cheers

7k ish?

As above, £7,000 will get you a minter.

I'm in York too but was lucky (after 6 months of searching) to find one in Bolton - still a fair distance to go and view it and then to go back and collect.

If you want the right car then you have to be prepared to travel.

This sounds right up your street; 2007 petrol vRS, race blue, hatch, low mileage (37K), heavily specced (heated seats, xenon's, front & rear parking sensors, maxidot, curtain airbags, cruise control and bluetooth) - I've never seen such a highly specced pre-FL vRS, all it is missing is leather, sat nav and sunroof!

It's 150 miles away though, but then that's the risk you have to take to get a 'gud'un'!

Sometimes a private seller can be over optimistic - but you've only got to look at the more recent VRSs in the for sale section of this website to see how low some prices can be.

Take my own experience - I was looking to sell mine privately, and hoped for a couple of hundred quid over my part exchange value. In the end though, I haven't really bothered as three people I spoke to who were interested all lost interest when I mentioned it would have to be getting on five and a half for a 56 plate TFSi. That's fine, but if you include my road tax refund that I'll get if I p/x then I can't go much lower or it'll be cheaper to sell it to the dealer!

I can see people's point - there are higher specced cars than mine that have struggled to sell at 5000-6000 on here (albeit normally higher mileage) but that just makes it even more confusing that the dealers can buy them and turn them around for seven or more!

I bought my 57-plate 54k miles vRS for £7k in February, from an independent dealer, very good condition. Think you should be expecting to pay more like £6500. I did notice some dealers really trying it on - but some of those cars are still on sale (now with more realistic prices)! The 18" wheels on mine look the part and help to set the vRS apart from other Octavias, but I think I'd prefer the better ride of the 17" ones - I'd notice the ride a lot more often than the wheels bearing in mind most of my time with the car is spent inside it.

Its scarey the prices just now... really worrying to be honest.

Totally agree. I paid 10k for my 57 plate in March 2011. Big loss in a year but I won't be selling anytime soon.

I traded my 56 plate VRS TFSI last month and got £5800 plus my tax rebate, not bad as it was due a service so doubt I would have made any more from a private sale.
