slight play in steering, cant figure out where.

Featured Replies

Its strange i can feel it through the wheel on a rough track, but there is no play in power steering rack at from either side, its tight as a drum, so i assume its coming from within the car in the rack leading up to the steering wheel

if i hold the steering wheel at top with 2 fingers and lightly wiggle the wheel i can just feel it left to right, It is slight very slight but i can feel it and it annoys me, is there anywhere i can look to find it that you know of.

Arb bushes or drop links?

ah right, im changing whole front end next week as it was cheap to do so. 2 new wishbones and all joints/bushes, droplinks, arb bushes, track rod ends. see if that makes a difference but im sure its more internal, could there be wear in teeth or gearing in rack or joints in car?

if you can make the play the steering wheel with 2 fingers and gentle movements,it's the steering column,no doubt.

the cross joint is worn out
