Service in the North East

Featured Replies

Many discussions have taken place regarding the cost of the 10,000 mile service for the VRS Fabia. I went to the dealer I got the car from Silbury Skoda in Cramlington and they quoted me

well im getting the 20k for 167

try looking on the review section of the forum, it probably covers the north east

After reading the dealer forum apparently Derek Slack in Middlesbrough is the best in the North East with no bad points against them so far. It's who i'm dealing with at the moment to purchase a new Octavia.

Nearest other dealer to you is Benfield Skoda in Newcastle, which doesn't get such good reviews.

No problems here with benfield.

Ace service so far as far as i am concerned.

Benfield Skoda in Shieldfield, Newcastle is also a disgraceful

After speaking to a salesman for about half an hour from Benfield on the phone he promised to fax a quote out the next day.

One week later still no quote.

Service from benfield has been fine for me so far, but their service is expensive - there is another dealer over towards newburn way who is very good I am told.

Neil

Silbury Skoda are fine when you speak to them, but like most modern dealerships employ complete mechanical numptys as far as I can see.

- They told me the brake fluid change at 2 Years old on my Octy (QG1 Variable) was 'optional' and 'a lot of owners don't bother', despite what it says on the service tick sheet, in the owners handbook, etc...

- They washed my car using what I can only guess was an automatic car wash - surface scratching the paintwork and decals, and ripping off two of my alloy badges - a third detached itself only a week or so ago - they lasted 15000 miles, then within 1500 miles of the service I've now lost all but one.

- They failed to even bother trying to sort the 'squeaky rattly loose belty sort of noise' the car makes for the first few minutes driving on cold mornings - it's not a standard 1.8T noise... but they don't seem to care.

- Since the service the car has developed the 'power loss until ignition off/on' problem widely discussed here on Briskoda. When I asked them whether the N75 valve could be a fault, I got a 'what the hell are you talking about' response.

- They charge for 'fuel conditioner' at

That mate sounds like our lasses fathers experience.

He however can prove the put the fuel conditioner in, as the gave him the remainder of the bottle - lol......

Over charged him, and the rest rings true too.

Oh - and his car was overpriced too :D

I only hope Skoda CS are reading this thread!
