Scraped in a car park...!

Featured Replies

Well, with the bank holiday providing another batch of delicious weather, the crowning turd was that someone scraped my Octy whilst it was in a car park by the beach :( And of course, with drivers today being such an honest bunch, they naturally stopped and left a note with their details......pfffffft yehh right!!! :@

So I now have a lovely white scrape across the left corner of my rear bumper. It's not hanging off but it's scratched right through the paintwork and gouged the plastic underneath. The paint on the leftmost parking sensor has also been damaged.

So now it's going to be a case of looking at options to get it fixed up. As the bumper is all one piece, I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to fork out for a new bumper...but just thought I'd check and see if there might be any other (i.e. cheaper!) options? I'd assumed that as the bumper is plastic, getting it "smoothed and painted" isn't really an option? And will it be poss to get the parking sensor painted? Or will I have to get that replaced too?

Oh and then to cap it all, yesterday my ESP light came on....and has stayed on ever since :(

Scraped bumper shouldn't be too hard for a competent bodyshop to correct. Or even one of the chip and dent people. I'd phone first before replacing.

Failing that might be worth phoning round the scrap dealers anyway, a colour matched scrap bumper will probably be cheaper than getting it sprayed and certainly cheaper than a new one + painting.

ESP is probably more of a bugger if it;s the Teeves fault.

Thx for the info...will try and find a good bodyshop!

Can anyone recommend any good bodyshops in Manchester area? (And I don't mean the ones that sell bath salts and moisturiser)

As for the ESP....<sigh>....I'm sort of preparing myself for a bit of a big bill on that one :( Separate thread on this here http://www.briskoda....-light-came-on/

You'll be suprised at what can be fixed now in terms of plastic damage.

A family member kissed one of those pebble-dashed bollards once and it really gouged throught the plastic.

A local (mobile) guy came out and fixed it up. I couldn't even see where the damage was!

A mate of mine had a badly scraped front bumper done and it only cost him £170 at local bodyshop. No parking sensors but they had to contend with the headlamp washers. You cannot tell it has been repaired/sprayed. A decent local bodyshop should be able to sort it.

My vrs is due to go in for a rear bumper re-paint as some kind person scraped it. It's costing me £200 at my local approved bodyshop
