New car coming. How to keep it clean.....

Having read enough info on car cleaning products to bore most people to death, I have decided I 'need' to get some snow foam.

I have a pressure washer by the brand Nilfisk. It's quite a good one I think, though I haven't used it too often. In the kit that it came with is a plastic bottle that you fill with a diluted mix of shampoo. I am wondering if this is the same as the snow foam lance adapters you see on the various car cleaning websites. The reason I am not sure is that they tend to retail for around £50 upwards, and seem to have various metal (brass?) bits on them. The one that I have is a simpler affair, all plastic from what I can tell, and there is no dial on the top like you see on the £50 ones.

Do you think the be I have is indeed the right kind of snow foam adapter, or will I need to buy one of the expensive adapters?

  • Me personally I would use the AutoGlym products as they come wih the car's Lifeshine and they are very good just relatively expensive compared to some other products.

The one that comes with the Nilfisk is good for absolutely nothing - might look good with a plant in it, I don't know.

Foam lance is the way to go - adaptors for the various washer brands are about £8.

Thanks for confirming. Looks like I'm gonna be spending an extra £50 then!!!

I got my snow foam lance off of eBay and use meguaires hyper wash in it, awesome stuff, ph neutral so doesn't strip wax and can be diluted to 400:1.

Well, there goes the best part of £100 on car wash stuff.

You won't be disappointed - great feeling to watch the degreaser pull off that dirt after you've covered it in foam! When you wash it with a mitt and bucket (preferably two, one of them with water only to rinse off the mitt after each panel or so), you will be amazed how clean the water is when you pour out the rest :)
