European headlight conversion and bulb change

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have heard there is a relatively simple mechanical conversion so that the headlights "flatbeam" which is legal for driving in europe on a temporary basis. Its something to do with a lever. Could someone please tell me where this lever is and how to do the conversion.....basicaly a fools guide please.....any photos would be a bonus. Also my xenons are not as effective as they once were, whats the easiest way to replace them (ease of access)....again with a fools guide cos im not over confident doing this kind of thing. I have heard these bulbs are extremely expensive. I would obviously rather not pay too much so is there an alternative cheaper bulb that can be used as a straight swap. Many thanks in advance......car is Superb Elegance (2004) 1.9TDI

do a forum search for "bent screwdriver"

Re replacement of bulbs, pick cheap bulbs on Ebay, just check if you need D1S or D2S first. At 35W power level Ebay variety is good enough, worst case scenario is they will last 3x shorter, but they still are 5x-8x cheaper...
