Fender Stratocaster, Fender P-Bass, Fender Prosonic

Featured Replies

Here goes... my three babies.

Selling due to potentially dropping a simply huge wad on a Custom Shop Fender. For around 7 years I've bought and sold a LOT of guitars, and these three items were the only ones I deemed worth keeping out of Paul Reed Smiths, Gibsons, Fender Custom Shops, high-end US Fenders and many more.

1987 Fender Japan Contemporary Standard Stratocaster.

Simply an awesome guitar. Has been my main guitar for ages, bettered every other Fender I've ever owned. This includes American Deluxes, a Jeff Beck signature and plenty other exotica. It has...

- Callaghan Modern two-point trem upgrade.

- Sperzel locking tuners. Originals also included.

- GraphTech string trees.

- DiMarzio FS-1 neck & middle singlecoils.

- DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker at the bridge.

- Abalone fret markers (very rare on a Japanese Fender).

- Beautiful rosewood fretboard, very dark & incredibly high quality.

- Maple neck.

- Lake Placid Blue body.

- Fender Deluxe hardcase (rectangular, massive, very well protected).

Quite simply, it's a player's guitar and looks amazing.

1990 Fender Japan Precision Bass Lyte.

Again, another player-orientated machine. One of the nicest necks I've felt on a Fender bass.

- Gorgeous quilted maple top (possibly FotoFlame, not sure).

- Very rare Purpleburst finish.

- Active electronics, one Jazz Bass pickup at the bridge and a P-Bass pickup in the middle.

- Notched controls.

- Gold hardware.

- Rosewood 'board.

- Maple neck.

1996 Fender Custom Shop Prosonic amplifier

1 of 400 ever made, incredibly rare in the UK. Simply unbelievable spec for a Fender amp. The distortion on this thing rivals, if not betters, a Mesa Engineering. The clean channel is unusually dark, but still bright. Oh, and it's Seafoam Green. If you want to get noticed, you NEED this amp. To give you an idea of how good this amp is, I swapped it for an original 1965 Fender Twin Reverb.

- 60w, all-valve amp.

- Three-stage rectification. Class A (30w), Class A/B (50w) and SS rectification (60w). Switchable via a chicken-head knob on the back.

- All valve reverb.

- 2x 6L6 output tubes, 5x 12AX7 preamp tubes, 1x 12AX7 reverb tube, 1x rectifier tube.

- Seafoam Green Tolex outer.

- Original brown cover.

- Dual-stage cascading gain channel. Gain 1 controls initial overdrive. Gain 2 acts as a compressor/sustainer. Unbelievable sound.

- Active EQ. Turn it off, you get no sound. So you can turn the amp right up, then adjust the EQ for the desired volume & tone. Incredible feature.

- 2 different speaker baffles. Original 2x10" setup, or a 1x12" setup with an ElectroVoice EVM12L speaker in it. The speaker alone costs £200 if you're lucky to find an original one. Optional for lower price.

- Also includes Mercury Magnetics transformer & choke. These cost circa £300 and I never got round to fitting them. Again, optional for lower price.

Prices:

Stratocaster: £625

P-Bass: £450

Prosonic: £950 with 12" speaker & Mercury Magnetics, £700 without.

Collection from Southampton area preferred, shipping available on the 2 guitars.

Lovely bits of kit there Vlad. B)

Wish I had the spare cash, I only need a bass to complete

my guitar collection.

My most valuable plank is my Alvarez Dana.

Pretty rare in gloss black with Modulus Graphite neck, fully active

circuitry and Floyd Rose trem. Bought it in the early 90s (Part exchanged a Washburn Mercury series) and

it's the easiest to play guitar I have ever had my hands on. And a real looker as well to boot.

You can get just about any tone you want from it thanks to the active humbucker and twin single coil pickups.

Although I don't consider myself to be one a few "proper" guitarists have played around

with it and all have offered to buy it. It stays away from daylight in its flight case under my spare

bed most of the time and I take my daily frustrations out on my Godin Radiator

(in Cream with white pearl scratchplate.) A surprisingly good guitar considering its price

point. It's my daily driver. Great value for money and a really sophisticated sound

considering the cost of it. Decent neck as well. If you haven't already give one a go

if you get the chance. Feels and plays like something twice the £300 odd price tag.

Then there's My Takamine EG332C Active electric acoustic with cutaway

(A fine sounding guitar this one... Mrs Grrs favourite ;) ) Easiest guitar ever to get some

real mellow tones out of.

And lastly there's my "Very Metal :p " theatrical gig guitar from back in the day.

Satin Black BC Rich Virgin with Warlock Headstock and body pierced design.

Not the best guitar ever but very lightweight, extremely eye catching and great for playing high

gain overdriven stuff. Its perfectly playable though with a decent neck and a fast low action.

No tremelo either so it stays in tune easily without locking nuts.

But tbh mostly I bought it because it looks like a medieval weapon and I was

listening to a LOT of Slayer at the time LOL. Especially in it's velvet lined coffin shaped case B)

The one I wished I'd never sold is the guitar I learned to play on really.

I had a black Aria Pro II XX Deluxe Flying V in black with a yellow lightning bolt across the body.

I'd love to see that again and play it :( Stupidest thing I ever did getting rid of that.

I'll zap a link to this thread to a few of my muso buddies. You may get a bite? Who knows?

Dammit I'd love that bass but I'm clawing all my finances together to splash a big bunch of

dosh on an S3 and a Fiat 500.

Good luck with your sale. Lovely kit that!!!

Have you tried Moggytech? He's a pretty accomplished guitarist and has (or has access to)

a decent studio setup I believe. He may be interested in some of your stuff? There are a few others on here

as well but offhand I couldn't name them.

Lovely kit you selling, must be breaking your heart to get rid of it.

Few of my friends are pretty accomplished guitarists so have sent them a linky.

That bass is beautiful

Thanks guys- I didn't put it up to show off, it's just that I want to buy my dream Stratocaster and it really does kill me to put these up for sale. Especially the amp- they're virtually impossible to find in the Custom Shop spec! I've only ever found 1 other for sale in the UK, and it was red... not awesome green. :giggle:

I was looking at getting back into playing bass, but I just can't justify spending that much on one at the moment. Wish I could though!

It's a bass for life mate... never need another one! ;) I was playing it this morning and it is lovely... don't want to sell any of them except for wanting the new one so much!
