ROOMSTER LOAN CAR

Featured Replies

My superb went into skoda for some warranty work last wendsday, they loaned me a 61 reg roomster green line which i drove back to my home which is 15 miles to say that drive was an experience would be putting it mildly, the roar from the engine was horrible the gear stick was so low you have trouble reaching it the dash was buried into my left knee all the way home and i am only 5.10 as for the power of the engine i never found it.why would any one pay £16000 for this car its horrible plus the body looks like two cars welded together.i have been driving my wifes 2002 fiesta ghia since i got home which i might add is ten times better than the roomster. i cannot wait to get my superb back . ps sorry if there are any roomster owners reading this.

i have bought one for the wife???

We had a Roomster some years ago and really liked it. It was a 1.9tdi though. None of the issues you mentioned. It's not a Superb, of course.

I migrated from a Roomster to a Superb. The 1.9tdi pulled excellently; the interior was so flexible, and I get used to any gear lever position in a few days. It was very reliable, and only numpties pay £16k for one!

The Roomster defines a 'marmite' car. We've just run one (1.9 TDi) as a second car for 3 1/2 years and it's been great, fantastic for moving lots of stuff. We have now got a new 1.2TSi Roomster arriving imminently, as nothing else was as versatile.

PS I've driven the Greenline engine in a loan Fabia and I really did not enjoy the experiance.

Fabia greenlines OK if you respect it for what it is. Yes it's not like the 1.9 / 2.0 four cylinders, but give it a few revs and it's alright. Mind you you won't get decent MPG if you do. I got an indicated 93MPG on the day I took ours back!

Each too his own this was only my opinion of the roomster ,i also had a Mercedes v6 320 cdi estate for 6 months which was also a terrible car in my opinion.bill

the gear stick was so low you have trouble reaching it the dash was buried into my left knee all the way home and i am only 5.10
Does the Greenline spec not have a height adjustable drivers seat?

yes it has you can pump it up and down but when you adjust the seat forwards for peddle reach the part off the dash where the radio is fitted hits your knee it sticks out from the rest of the dash?
