Plug Woes

Featured Replies

Thought I'd treat myself to a set of NGK's for the Felly. Once unpackaged assumed it was just a case of popping off the top cap in each case inorder to fit my particular leads - wrong. After much effort realisation dawned that they must be fixed & hence quite useless to me, Doh!

The old Bosch's will just have to last that bit longer, but lesson learnt + 20 quid lighter

Say what?

Changing sparks isn't exactly hard, so what do you mean must be fixed?

Surely they just screw in like any other plug (you may need to gap it, but that's hardly difficult).

I don't know if a felly has coil packs or a distributor, but again these pull off then go on the new plugs?

So can I ask what I'm obviously missing?

At the top of the plug is a terminal - the shaped alloy bit. On most plugs this is screwed on and some coil packs / caps / terminals need them whilst others don't, on other plugs this is permanently fixed as part of the centre electrode.

I assume that whatever fitting robk1's HT leads or caps have don't require the nut, but push and clip directly onto the thread, and he has discovered that the ones he has bought are not removable and his lead caps wont fit.
