1.6TDI CR Warm Up time?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Was just wondering what your warm up times are in the current temperatures, and what type of driving gets it to operating temperature?

The 1.6 is no diferente han any other engine.

If cold I usually let the engine idle for 30 to 1 minute and then drive off without pushing gears,, everything below 2000rpm.

I rarely push the engine to high revs if not on the 90ºc, normal temp. for the engine.

For the warm up time, it all depends mostly how cold the air temp is outside.

I just turn the key & go. Around 6/7 miles it hit 75-80 C. Thats good enough for me to start booting it a little. As Alburg said on cold morning it can take a few miles more & on hot days it takes a bit less but at 18 C it take mine round 6/7 miles. As for driviving styles I dont go above 2 - 2300rpm until I see the oil temp nearing 80 C. I hope this helps
