Aircon Compressor noisy

Featured Replies

The Aircon compressor on my 2005 Fabia 1.2 12v classic is makeing a noise, mostly at idle speed. The garage says it will be expensive to replace but if it isn't it could sieze up and cause other expensive problems.

I can live without the aircon but would like guage if/how likely the coompressor is to sieze up and what damage that might cause. REpaceing the compressor, regassing the aircon etc could add up to nearly the value of the car.

Thanks for any help

Its hard to say whether it will seize up or not its like saying how long is a piece of string, obviously if it does seize up then yes it could do alot of damage,if i was you and you say you can live without air-con i would try to see if the aux drive belt off a model the same as yours without air-con will fit, therefore bypassing the compressor completley,a relatively cheap solution.
