suspension Arm kit with sport shocks/spring..?

Featured Replies

hi folks,

ok so i was going to purchase this Delphi Arm kit - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-SUPERB-SUSPENSION-ARM-KIT-02-2002-OFFER-PRICE-/110392388572?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19b3e62bdc#ht_1253wt_1235

the thing is, ive noticed that sometimes it states in certain adverts that the kit is not suitable for sports suspension!

now seen as ive got KW shortened shocks and lowering springs its fair to say that its sport suspension....

so what exactly would be different for Arm kits designed for sports suspension? and where would i be able to find a full arm kits for my superb?

I have Delphi kit with Bilstein B6 and H&R springs. No problems at all...

ok thanks, but still...why do they state its not suitable for sports suspension?

im actually swaying towards the Meyle Arm kit which is abit dearer but "looks" better quality.

also is it true or untrue that the superb share the same suspension arm kit as the A4 and passat of the same variant.? as ive been told by a seller that the kit fits the a4 and passat but not the superb?

im confused.!

Just this morning I finished my installation of new FEBI upper arms (x4) and a pair of Bilstein springs and Bilstein B6 sports shocks.

All good.

i have been told it is just the FRONT lower arms that vary. can anyone confirm this.?

Purchased the Meyle HD Kit thats listed for the passat and A4 in the end, i will see if the Front lower arms differ from the ones on the superb.

ive not fitted the Meyle Kit yet but have been having a quick look regarding the the front lower arms and if they are different from the passat/a4 and i have found that there is different front lower arms! but why is this.?

a little more browsing although this is from an Audi site it seems that the front lower arm differ in the size of the ball joint taper. there is a 16mm and 20mm taper version.

it seems this is because originally the hub carrier was made from alloy with a "bolt in" wheel bearing upto 99. after this a steel hub carrier replaced the alloy type and had "press in" wheel bearings.

now am i correct in thinking that all superbs have steel hub carriers with "press in" wheel bearings? mine is like this.

i have the 20mm type taper on my front lower arm which i think is correct for the superb? ...... ......scratches head

what the fook is it with vag and there scattered parts? ive never owned a car that shares sooooo many different parts. it turns out that the front lower arms ball joint taper is 16mm on mine! typical.

so im sat here with a pair of Meyle 116 050 8228/HD arms that dont fit.! all the other arms fitted fine, its just these bloody front lowers.

im finding it even harder to source the correct Meyle 116 050 0031/HD arms!

sodding VAG.. rant over.
