Up gearbox clunking

Featured Replies

Having 2 Skoda's at the moment I am looking to sell the Fabia and purchase a Citigo. Having driven a couple of Up's then tried the Citigo the car is great and all I need as a second car. I am looking to buy a 60ps Elegance Greentech, red with spare wheel and entertainment pack. Having just read the test in Autoexpress the Citigo is the one for me. I still think the glass tail gate on the Up looks better and the side window but the Citigo looks better from the front end and it saves me cash. I am a Skoda convert anyway.

What I am concerned about is the problems with a knocking noise on the gearbox that the Up drivers seem to be experiencing, is the Citigo going to go the same way until a modification is done? Is it a potential problem? When I went to Allams Skoda to try a car I thought I heard a knocking noise a couple of times but didn't think anything of it, new car so can't be anything wrong. Not so sure now it wasn't whet the Up is experiencing.

Any thoughts on the article?

I had a long test drive the other day and the gearbox was as good as gold.

The only thing I did notice when accelerating from low revs was a sound almost like a slight exhaust leak?I put it down to the 3 cylinder engine.

I thought the 3 cylinder engine was a peach, much nicer than the 60 and 70 bhp 3 cylinder engines in the Fabia. I believe it is a completly new design engine. I thought the engine had a 5 cylinder UR quattro warble to it if I'm honest.
