Rear Top Mounts

Featured Replies

So I am getting a set of LCR front mounts ready for when the Weitecs go on, but what Mounts do you use on the rear? Would LCR rear mounts fit? or do I need something else as I have an estate?

The rear mounts are just metal mate so the standard ones are fine and your original ones will most def still be fine to use. You will however definitely benefit from replacing the rear bump stops. Hope this helps.

Sent from my phone, using my thumb.

Yup replace rear bump stops

Vrs ones are shorter and hard to get a hold of!

Not that it bothered me as i bought some ebay £8 jobs as i cut them down to run low anyway :)

Cheers Gents.

Rear bump stops.

Not exactly top mounts, but there are bushes on the rear axle where it mounts onto the body, and these can be replaced with ones from the LCR or Fabia vRS, bith of which are harder than the original.

You can also get poly ones, but these apparently make the ride quite harsh.

I've got the Fabia vRS ones on mine.

Poly bushes on my rear axle haven't made it harsh noticably. But then I've got a heavy arsed wobbly Estate... (and brand new standard shox, although my springs are shagged...)

To be honest the rear is a lot more simple than the front so it makes sense when doing front to change top mounts for either new VRS ones or a upgraded LCR ones. There are no rear mounts from a suspension point of view only bump stops that the rear shocks mount to in the top shock bracket. The other bushes are rear beam bushes but not esential to replace if you are only replacing shock and springs.

However when the rear beam bushes start to wear the beam starts to make a knocking noise and the car feels a bit crashy at the rear. Then it is time to replace and as others have mentioned for either Fabia VRS ones (they are stiffer than octy VRS voided ones believe it or not) or LCR ones which are similar to Fabia VRS ones as they are solid but twice as much. Or go for poly ones that again are even dearer..

Cheers,

Most helpful as usual to you all.

Soo much to do and not enough time as cant afford for car to be off road for too many days.

Got the FMIC to fit, then the coilovers, RARB too, but will do at same time as the coilovers, splitter also.
