but google cache has higher mileage 156k looks like ex lease tax was out in May 12, 7 services would suggest variable

This is close enough to be worth a look,

Id be contacting the the selling garage & showing them the ad with the higher mileage, somebody has at some point clocked it. I think you can confirm the correct mileage using a diagnostic tool.

More likely a typo by in the ad.

Yeah, could be,does seem a bit weird, maybe contact the last owner/lease company & get them to confirm the mileage when they sold it on.

if you know someone with VCDS its possible to read the true mileage from the ECU (Stored in kms), this figure cannot be altered unlike the one on the dashpod. At least one member in the past has bought a car which he later found out had been clocked as the original owner was a member on here.

look like a typo as surely if they were going to clock it, they would of knocked more miles off it

Thanks, looks like they may be home based traders no land line and post code is a house.

Tax was cashed in mid may which ties in with 4 year lease car getting offloaded.

if last history is 145k 12/11 then 148 for 6 months would not add up to previous rate.

If it is a lease car how easy is it to get the detailed service history if they don't have it?

Would a local skoda dealer be able to get it? or can I get it from the lease company?

I think this is a Monday job.

Steering wheel shows some serious signs of wear I didn't know the Octavia wheels wore so heavily tbh 150K ish and 4 years old isnt overly excessive. on second link looks like there might be a tear in drivers seat on side bolster. When a trader says things like "£250 paint job required" although being openly honest that it needs something in ad its only something that would be very obvious if they can't get it done for that or cheaper themselves what else might need done. I would be going over with a fine tooth comb or better again a mechanic friend etc.

I got my 2008 vrs 28k on the clock FSH for 2500 more surely there is something a little less used on the market? I waited 9 months for the right car to come along. Good things come to those who wait and travel few hundred miles. If they can't be bothered correcting the paint as mentioned above what other under lying problems are there? Brakes, tyres, suspension etc will all add up your bill. Mot will it pass? And is it just me or does the pics in e first link show the panel under the steering wheel appear to be hanging off?

Bushes, shocks, springs, bearings, calipers, pulleys. are the sorts of things that might be ending their natrural life.

I think it will depend what has been done during it's life and the last 30k-40k since it's first MOT.

I have noticed steering wheels on Octavia and Superbs seem to show wear around the thumb area.

Like you say up the budget into the £6k-£7k range and there are more <100k about but not many 1.8 L&K around.

Also upping the money gets into dealer cars, estates and DSG.

currently low(5k-7k) mileage so the 1.8 is attractive allthough the few around seem overpriced.

This one might be a ok buy but not close/attractive enough to spend 1/2 day having a look.
