Has anybody a powerflow exhaust on their vrs

Featured Replies

As the title says basically

Not even got a vrs yet and keeop thinking one the first things i will want to do is a twin exit exhaust similar size to the standard in the same exit location but on both sides of the bumper

i can beleive im the only person that would want this but never seen any mention of powerflow on here

or seen anybody who has done this

am i missing somthing

as i have a powerflow on my current car and think it was great

p.s think it would have to be a nice quite loud system this time

current one is a little subtle on tickover

PM MonkeyBoy...Paul had this on his Octy...might be some pic in the gallery.

I have a powerflow decat and backbox on my TDI. Its a nice system, good value for money too.

BTW, James - Did you get the message OK about Kegworth chappie? All sorted now and I've been paid. Thanks though.

I wish the vRS's sounded a bit more like Imprezas or TVR's.I know that would mean engine tranplants rather than exhausts but GOD I LOVE THE NOISE THEY MAKE ( anyone else put their window down to listen when they go by or is that just me :o )

I don't know how good these exhausts sound but I will read with interest :)

I think the reason there arent any mentions of powerflow is because they aren't that great.

The reason is say this is because they are universal boxes, differing sizes of boxes that have then been fitted with tail pipes of your choice (FOR COSMETIC AFFECT).

Because they are universal your cars own engine characteristics have not been taken into account, i.e Torque curve through rev range, engine displacment, Bhp, engines own fine line between back pressure and freeflowing exh gasses.

Yes most standard systems restrict. Why?? goverment emision laws, noise levels, drivability, manufacturing cost, But they are very well designed unlike these types of systems,

There is no guarantee of all round performance with these systems because they have never been designed from the ground up on dyno machines and lots of time on the rolling road.

They can dress it up and say! the stainless steel is of high quality it last for ever, what they dont say is your car may not perform as good as with what a brand name exhaust make can give.

Also univerals Like RAGE, ZAUST, POWERFLOW have a small print section

NOT ROAD LEGAL. Why?? because they have not got TUV approval, and are not E'Approved Why? Because they have not been tested for each individual car.

If you want a good sound , good performance , good looks, stick to real exhaust makes.

Stick to makes like Mongoose, Scorpion, Ansa, Remus, Miltek and probobly the best developed SUPERSPRINT for your VW engined cars.

These makes may not have the ultimate in tail pipe designs and are not the cheapest but are the only makes that guarantees the all important true power gains.

Without being excessive on the DECIBEL Level unless you opt for there Racing Systems (yes there not road legal) SUPERSPRINT being the most engineered due to them being the only manufacturer to own and use an engine dyno and rolling road dyno on every single car they make an exhaust for, wheather its a fiat punto or Porsche Cayenne, Race cars, or working on Pre-production vehicles for car manufacturers.

I guess what iam saying and i hope many others will join me and say to everybody who is thinking of buying an exhaust is BUY QUALITY.

REMEBER noise doesnt mean PEFORMANCE

Remember With UNIVERSAL your paying for the time to weld it,bend it,grind it,and forgeting the actual important bit the Quality of materials and the internal design

Sorry i went on a bit i just see so many people with very loud poorly constructed poorly fitted systems coming in to my work complaining the police keep on bothering them or the car doesnt keep up with there mates car, IT JUST DOES MY HEAD IN to see them paying upwards of

Well i have all of the above so your not the only one or the first :D

Had mine done at unique exhausts in stafford.

I just think that powerflow perhaps are aiming their market more toward what we might call the chav market. BUT, they did a good job on my car, being a TDI all this "choose own noise" crap wasn't applicable, so I just went for a full decat and a backbox. Its done the job for me.

Also, my local powerflow dealer was local and very flexible so I just dropped in and had it done there and then. Great value for money, and I've got a decent exhaust. :)

Had a powerflow twin exit on the Mazda. Gr8 value for money and looked real good too. That along with a guarentee for the life of the car made for a good buy. There were no noticeable powergains but the sound was real good.

I only bought powerflow because there were no exhausts available for the Mazda at the time...If I could have gotten a 'named' brand then I would probably have gone with them due to the points outlined in previous posts. The major factor in buying a powerflow exhaust is its completely custom and is designed around the car for your needs. So if you want power gains I would look elsewhere...if you want individuality then powerflow would be your best choice imo

i have a powerflow system on mine with twin round tailpipes at each side, theres a picture in my gallery if you wish to see how it looks and i have no complaints about noise, quality, price or performance so if you want one then i would recommend them

My first aftermarket zorst for the Octy was a Powerflow - very pleased with it. In fact it's still in the garage :D

Only reason i changed was to get a decat which they wouldn't do...

They did on mine, but then it was a diesel I guess... Do you keep the powerflow one for MOT time. ;)
