Amundsen Sat Nav sd card

Featured Replies

HI New to the forum.

Have a new Octavia with factory fitted Amundsen sat nav. which is working ok apart from not recognising a few uk postcodes but can get around that by entering full address .

Have the CD disk but wish to use the satnav via a SD card.

Not up on sd card info ..... can anyone advise a suitable card and the GB size SD card required.

I will be only using satnav in Uk so hopefully if system allows i will only copy the uk files from the CD to sd card.

No other data will be put on to the card ( ie music) so assume wont require much gb space ?

Any pitfalls encountered copying map files etc from CD to a sd card. ?

Are all SD cards of same physical size ?

Cheers

Dunno about the Amundsen but the whole of Europe is less than 3gb on my Garmin.

As the economy goes, I reckon this time next year, Europe will only take about 20mb!

Thanks for the reply.

Can i just buy a SD card from anywhere ?

Are all SD cards the same physical dimensions? Dont want to buy a card that wont fit the slot.

Micro SD cards are smaller but a search for 'SD card' on amazon will bring up hundreds of them. I paid about £8 for a 16gb one. They come in different classes but as the Amundsen doesn't read or write to the card at lightening speed like a digital camera does, any class will do.

Thanks for all the comments. Bought a SD card and it copied the UK disk in less than 30 mins.... just left it to copy whilst i did other work.

The card navigation response time is exactly the same as the cd was.

Just got 2011 octavia from dealer with same Sat nav, but didnt get any disc or card with maps. Should you get CD or SD card with the maps with it. The salesman thinks not.?

What say nav do you have? If its Columbus+ or Adumsden+ then they are preloaded so you don't get a disc.

It an Adumsden+, so I dont get any backup. Is there a way to backup the maps from sat Nav. Also thank for reply.

On the same theme, I need to update my maps but the manual says I must insert the SD card that is unique to the car. This indicates the serial number, warranty etc. The instruction for update begins with 'remove the SD card from slot 2'. Since it doesn't  come with an SD card there's a problem.

Which headunit have you got?

What Octavia have you got?

2013 Octavia Combi 1.2

MKII or MKIII?
