Can,t solve wet footwell problem...HELP!

Featured Replies

I have 56 plate Mk 1 & have got a very wet driver side rear footwell. I took door card off & sat in the

car while my mate hosed water over the closed window. There was a lot of water running down inside the plastic membrane and out of the bottom of the door when I thought the water should run over the membrane... Anyway the membrane is in new condition SO could it be that I need a new outer window seal. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

at the bottom of the door there should bee two drain holes, check these are unblocked. where the inner door meets the outer skin

Also run sealant around the bottom of the carrier. It's a common problem on most.

check the bulk head drainage holes(youll have to remove wipers to check)they block over time.:)

I would guess that you could have a door seal worn or torn. This Is common as the top section of seal gets old and looses its seal water gets in. Have also seen blocked bullhead drain holes (by back of inner wing under plastic shroud wiper arms) this allows build up of water that then escapes into car through wire grommet holes.

Similar to this. There is a connection box under the wiper motor where wires from the car interior and engine bay meet. The seal around the lid can fail.

Mine failed around the seal in bulk head wiring had to strip out whole interior to get the deafening under carpet dry :/
