EGR Delete

Featured Replies

Right I've been reading a few past posts and I'm getting mixed messages from this, what are the pros and cons? And does it have to be mapped out or something I read? And something about it being illegal for MOT's?

Thanks jd

What engine code is your car?

Erm. It's a 04 vrs haha aye?

Its not illegal matey.

And usually has to be mapped to stop the dash light comming on (but wont bake your engine run badly).

Dave

Be asz then and you should be able to switch the light off with a code reader/vag com

Ahh I see, nice to know :)

Ive just stuck a ball bearing in the pipe that goes to the EGR, and it brings up a warning light, I've already had the car mapped, its not lacked in performance since, just the warning light but i have started getting a lot better MPG so i would do it. don't think id bother with buying a full allard delete thing though unless you really want to, just put a blanking gasket in the egr its a lot cheaper!

what about a 56 plate fabia?

ASZ engines can be simply be turned of in the map. Not got round to trying it yet on mine to see what the difference is.

The EGR system only works under part load. Doesn't work when under WOT.

Removing the EGR on a BLT brings on the EML on the dash (3 active faults) My '06 Fabia VRS has an Allard EGR delete and a custom stage 1 Shark map, so no more EML on the dash  The ASZ is supposed to be easier to EGR delete.

Could be either ASZ or BLT, that's around the time of the crossover, I think. If you look in the top left corner of the bay near the drivers strut tower, the EGR valve is up there. If you have one that looks like a flying saucer with a vacuum pipe going to it from the vac control box on the drivers strut, it's an ASZ. If you have something that doesn't look like that, you have a BLT. If you have a straight piece of pipe like Kenny's, it's already removed.

Or check your sticker in the rear wheel bay, should end with either asz or blt. Sometimes in the manual too. (sticker in first page).

:)

Not quite true, the asv and egr are seperate, the egr is the one closest to the inlet manifold and does have a flying saucer on top still.

Can be mapped out by most decent mappers easily now on BLT's :)

Just a quicky, is that 223miles from having it filled up? ie 223 miles to a quarter?

Ah yeah, it's the antishudder that's different on the BLT, not the EGR. Can tell it's Friday, I've switched off for the week! :)

That was how many miles I'd covered that week, I zero it on a sunday night. I don't take any notice of my mpg

What's the engine code on a 55plate fabia vrs

There's a sticker on the timing belt cover, it'll have BLT or ASZ on it.
