Felicia 1.6 - Induction Kit & Wheels

Featured Replies

Guys,

Need you recommendations please :) !

I have got a Felica (99 model) 1.6. I think it is a damn good car. Only mods so far are Pioneer head unit and Alloy Richmond gear knob! I plan on changing the speakers too at some point. Anyway, firstly i'd like to sort the wheels out, because really they are pants. The car slides at every opportunity (yes they are above 1.6mm tread depth :) ).

Anyway. I would like to put on tyres of 205/40R. Either 16" or 15" wheels. Someone said that 16" wheel might scrub on the arches if I also put some new suspension in and lower it (which is another mod I will be doing at some point). Also, on another subject entirely; I want to get an induction kit for the car. Which one is best? Does it make any real difference?

Thanks in advance,

James

Have a look about for some VAG wheels. Try something like the alloys from a MK3 SEAT Ibiza. 16" but only 6" wide so will fit the Felicia. Dont go for 205's though, stick with 195 tyres and it will tramline less.

Thanks for the info :),

Has anyone else got example of wheel/tyre combinations on their cars?

Thanks again,

James

ive just fitted 15inch wolfrace c211's to my felicia and they look awesome if i do say so myself! the tyres are 195/45's and they suit the car perfectly and dont catch on the arches. ill upload some pix up as soon as i get them off my camera!

have a word with the lads at www.alloyboy.co.uk cause they were really helpful with size info etc and they got them to me the next day, which was useful cause my car was undrivable due to a minor incident involving a blow out, my car, a very large kerb and a soil embankment! lol!

Have they made a difference to the handling at all?

Cheers for the link!

James

the handling has improved vastly! was a bit worried at first cause my felicia is the 1.3 L so has no power steering! but as bizzare as it may sound the car is now easier to manouver! even when it comes to parking and dry steering it is now a lot more responsive and a touch lighter! so it was a bit of a nice brucie bonus really!

Excellent, sounds good :)

  • 1 year later...

Ok, I've deduced by my own useless, but trademark, powers of deduction that there isn't a hope in hell of fitting the 16 X 7.5 wheels I lovingly received for my birthday directly onto my Fun...

...but what about 20mm spacers? I read somewhere on here that a 16 X 7 wheel would fit ok onto a Fun, so would 20mm of push away from the car (and that rear brakeline!!) be sufficient? Or would I then get tangled up in another mess of whether the outer tips of the front tyres would clip the arches when turning? Oh I dunno! Which is why I'm posting I guess... :)

Thanks as always,

Dunc 'just wants his Fun looking nice for the summer' Wilson

What offset are the wheels?

My wheels were close to the damper at the rear until I put 20mm spacers on the back then all was well.

38mm offset...

They look amazing on it as well :o :(

So, can anyone say for certain if 16X7.5 with offset 38 will fit on the Fun with 20mm spacers? Am I right in thinking that the 20mm spacing will push the wheels out (just under 1"), making the inner rims just a tad closer than 16X6.5 wheels would be? Then the only worry would have to be the width of the rims on the outside and whether or not the extra width would cause them to clip the front arches when turning? Or have I got it all wrong? :)

I have! I test drove one with some Fox 18s on. Hadn't driven one before, so had nothing to compare it with! I went for 16s after lots of recommendations...

It's the width of the wheels coming out of the side of the car and the different turning circle of each individual wheel that's concerning me. Will the fact that they're 7.5 wide with 20mm on the outside make them more susceptible to catching the front wheel arches when they turn? :S

18"

it must look as though it's on stilts :D

Just silly IMHO. Would look so much better on 15" wheels and a good suspension drop.

Any further thoughts on my wheels peeps?

If not, then anyone want to buy a nice set of double five spoke shadow chrome alloys, size 16X7.5? ;) or trade of course ;)
