Do the Dashboard lights come on when you turn on the radio!

Featured Replies

Just a quick silly one. I fitted a new head unit the other day to replace the standard unit. I switched the red and yellow, and it functions fine, however I noticed that the bulbs behind the ASR switch etc, and the dials light up when the radio is turned on. I'm not sure if it behaved the same with the old unit in!

Is it normal or have I got a strange electrical connection going on!

Thanks.

Shouldn't be normal. It sounds like your stereo is feeding power to the light sensing wire. Make sure the blue wire at the stereo end is either connected to nothing, or to only an aerial amplifier.

Wow, quick reply! Thanks I'll go check. There is a thread on here with a full pin out diagram but I can't for the life of me find it!

Thank you anewman, that was exactly the post I was looking for!

To conclude this thread, I just cut and taped up both the blue (labeled on my iso loom as amp if I remember correctly) and blue and white on my iso loom (Labeled as power for ariel)

Dash lights no longer come on with the head unit so problem fixed.

Thank again for the help.
