Replace Key Battery

Featured Replies

While the car is the Fabia2, I am presuming the key fob is a common item so posted here rather than the Fabia 2 area.

I've had a few minor issues with my key not always locking or unlocking the car remotely. Some other threads had suggested a dead/dying battery, then I got a message on the maxidot, when turning on the ignition, to replace the key battery. This I duly did with a fresh out the packet button cell (not a cheap imitation one either). Then this afternoon I got into the car and up flashed the message again!!

Anyone know what is going on, can't seem to find anything in the manual about it.

Thanks

Yesterday i could not get the key to lock the car remotely.

Then i read the manual about changing the key and re-setting.

(It is there in the manual, sorry i can not remember the page, but its @ 'Changing the Remote Battery' section'.)

*I could not understand exactly what it meant,

was it 'lost in translation', or just me being stupid?

Me i think!!

Clearly it was me that had wiped the Setting the same as when you change a battery while sitting at KFC

& the key on my pocket trying to open the car out of distance.

so

I sat in the car with the engine on & opened the 2 front windows incase i locked myself out,

then used the Interior lock button to lock the doors.

Went out the drivers door and locked it with the key in the lock and the red light stayed on.

I then pressed the unlock button on the fob and held it on a bit.

The alarm then sounded, i noticed the Red Light was now flashing and my key fob was re-set.

I changed the battery about a week ago and have not actually had any problems with it locking/unlocking the car. Just getting this message on maxidot.

You need to reset the key, into front door and turn to right hold for few seconds then turn to right remove key and hey presto " I think lol"
