Door lock problem

Featured Replies

Can you help . I have a 2001 Fabia Combo . The drivers door lock has developed a fault . I can no longer lock the car from the outside ( it does not have electric locks ) . Went to my friendly dealer and he suggested i release the two screws in the door panel which are hidden behind the rubber plugs and extracting the lock to prove it is a lock problem or mechanism problem . I unscrewed the screws as suggested , the lock released about 3mm but i could not extract it . Have i gone wrong any where .

Sounds like you doing right.

The larger torx screw of the two will un wind to a stop, dont go further than that and they if you hold out the handle you should be able to withdraw the lock cylinder.

Usually the little link that goes between the lock and the mechnisim breaks off (I take it the key just turns in the lock?).

Both torx screws are T 20 , the mechanic at the dealer said the lower of the two screws will go tight but keep unscrewing until it goes loose . The top screw he said just release it gently , do not remove this screw . The key does operate to un-lockit but not to lock it .

Thanks Doug H
