A bad run of luck

Featured Replies

So, a fortnight or so ago, my turbo gave up. These things happen. Hard shoulder, recovered to garage etc.

Last weekend, heard a squeaking noise. Alternator pulley ordered. Had to drive to work on Monday. Smell of smoke... alternator. Hard shoulder, again. Probably shouldn't have driven it.

So what's next? These things come in threes...

Im gonna say something not engine related..perhaps a rumbling wheel bearing next!!

That's nothing, I had my Octavia written off while parked by a drunk uninsured polish person in a stolen car, the replacement Audi suffering gearbox failure within 24hrs in the DVLA car park and was rejected under SOGA, same day that dies someone stole the hard top from my roadster. I replaced the Audi with a Leon that suffered the usual Teves MK60 failure within 24hrs, 4 weeks later they still hadn't got the fix kit in (they were in stock as i'd checked), turns out the account was on stop, in this time despite me pointing it out before purchase and at collection the disc's were shocking so I offered to take it to VOSA as they'd just MOT'd it, when they replaced the ABS unit they said they'd check them again, turns out they didn't have the ability to ac****e the pump/bleed it properly, this combined with the near lethal condition of the inner face of the disc's almost resulted in an accident. They coughed up for my parts costs and I did the lot myself, properly. My hard top took 6 weeks to come because the insurance appointed repairer had the account on stop for non payment. Part was in stock in MK available for 24hr delivery. After much arguing and involving the insurer I got it back and the engine blew, 4weeks before I got married (that wasn't a bad thing btw!)

The thing I hope you take from all of this is the rule of three is something they tell people to make them feel better, life obeys no such rule. I now work to 'if it can go wrong, it will, usually when you least expect/want it'.

Either way 'good luck' ;)
