Just put deposit on a Yeti 2.0 110 - Love the Bluetooth link!

I've stumbled across this wee "community" of Skoda owners as I have researched the capabilities and practicalities of a replacement for my Citroen Berlingo Multispace. What a very supportive and knowledgeable bunch you are.

I've finally bitten the bullet after two years of thinking what a brilliant design the Yeti is, and waiting for my present car to let me down.. It expired in a cloud of blue smoke on Saturday, on the way back from the Skoda showroom. I think it knew..

To my shame though, and to be completely honest, the three factors that finally swung me were not the things you'd maybe expect:-

1. The GSM II / Bluetooth standard that Skoda implement on their factory fit option is excellent. It makes it ideal for wireless pairing with a modern bluetooth enabled smartphone. No cables.. no "MP3 adapter" and it reconnects to yours or one of your passengers' phones almost instantly when you turn the key in the ignition. It also has full A2DP (High Quality Stereo Reception) and AVRCP as standard (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile). As the name suggests, it allows you to use controls built into your steering wheel to select music tracks, pause them and skip to the next one). The thing paired securely with my iPhone 4s, which then sat with excellent reception, hidden from view and charging itself from my tiny portable battery, all hidden from view in the wee cubby thing on the top of the dashboard - Perfick! The sound quality as I flicked through my iTunes collection was fantastic and when my son called me during the test drive, it just faded the music - he could hear me more clearly than in any other car.

2. The "Folding Front Seat" and ability to remove a rear seat completely, makes this an ideal vehicle for long items from IKEA or B&Q, letting you transport them safely, without having to strap them to the roof where they can get wet, or sticking out of the window like a lance during a modern jousting contest. I think 2.4m wouldn't be a problem.

3. The really practical / versatile seating provided for by ride height and in particular the ability to adjust, recline and move the two rear seats laterally, make it really comfortable car to transport either small children or fully grown adults in, with oodles of shoulder and leg room for long journeys.

My only Gripe, is those "Sunset" tinted Windows.. What's that about - Do they envisage selling mainly to western drug dealers and pimps? I asked the dealer for an option on a sign that says "Warning - no Loose Women or Class A drugs are left in this vehicle overnight".

Ah, how he laughed.
