Hello - I'd be grateful for some advice please

Featured Replies

A few months ago I bought a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI PD sport 07 plate (80,000miles)

It's developed 2 faults which my usually very reliable mechanic can't get to the bottom of.

The engine managment light came on and the fault shows 'EGR valve insufficient flow' They changed the EGR valve as it was pretty caked up, but the fault soon reappeared after a few miles. They then cchanged the air flow sensor but the fault again reappeared. After the EGR valve was changed my MPG definitely improved. What would be the next port of call...the EGR Soleniod?

I also have a coolant loss problem. Again the cause is been tricky to find. I lost about 200ml per 200miles. No loss from the rad, water pump or pipework. No water in the oil. The head was taken off and pressure tested and was ok. They discoverd that the engine thermostat was faulty and the water was getting very hot in one section, and so I thought the loss was due to it being lost as vapour. But, alas it's still loosing coolant. It going back in for the 3rd time. Any suggestions on where i might be loosing coolant and how to detect it would be gratefully recived.

cheers
