Was I expecting to much or something wrong?

Featured Replies

Hi all! I'm new around here and not had my fabia all that long! When I bought it around a month ago I was told it was completely standard but it felt powerful to me as I come straight out of a corsa 1.2! Ha

Anyway not to bore you for to long! I took it to awesome on Wednesday to get my stage 1 map! As I left I noticed it smoke more than before but I expected this but I didn't think it felt that much more powerful to what I was expecting? Or was my expectations to high?

Awesome say it should be around 175-180bhp and around 300ftlb torque! Surely the difference in power from standard should be significantly noticeable!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Kyle

Didn't they put it on the rollers mate and you should notice a big difference mate

When I had my Focus mapped - straight away I didn't feel a difference. But we stopped, had a chat and then I took off again and that's when I felt the biggest difference, it just seems to respond more and more over time :)

Might of been mapped before. I doubt you will have those power figures either from a generic map.

you should have taken it to shark performance. much much better maps from what people say on here. my car has been given a tweak by shark and i can highly recommend them!

Did you use the place just to the West of Leeds?

Batley I think?

Thanks for the replies! I was expecting them to rr is before and after the map! But they never did. I don't want to slag awesome off as they were very helpful! And I have heard many good reviews about them. Thats why I went there in the first place!

I just felt I should have got a bit more poke for the money I paid! Was there 40mins and it was £150 for the map as £30 to map the egr out.

Maybe my car was mapped to begin with and I didn't realise, but I'm quite sure it was standard!

Thanks kyle

When you were giving it some, did the power tail off over 3000rpm, or did it continue to pull strongly before it was mapped?

  • Author

It began to tail off at about 3000rpm if I remember correctly!

Kyle

Contact them and tell them. They should have saved your original map somewhere on there system so you will be able to compare any differences in the map...

Hope this helps

Yes I might just do that. They may offer some help and advice. Thanks

if the power falls away at 3000rpm things are not right, it should pull for more than that. Also I hate to wizz on your bonfire but 180bhp and 300lbs of torque is an over estimation for a stage one remap.

  • Author

Now since the remap it still pulls through 3000rpm! And for the figures its not what I am guessing this is just what awesome gti told me it would be producing?

ah, thats good, at least its still pulling, that is a good sign. Wasn't saying it was your estimate was saying I think you were given slightly optimistic figures :)

I disagree. Mine ran an AmD generic "one-click" map for around 80k miles and achieved a pretty consistent (same Dyno Dynamics RR, 4 different occasions over 4 years) 162-172bhp and 295lb/ft, so 175 is not outside the realms of possibilty.

@ the OP. I had the same feeling stratight after mine had the AmD map. Bear in mind your ECU will adapt to your driving style. Give it a few days and see.

Thanks for the reply! I wasent sure what It would be putting out I was just going with the figures that awesome gave me.

I had the map Wednesday and have covered quite a few miles maybe I've a hundered since. It does seem to be getting better. I didn't know it would adapt to my driving style? ... Does this mean I've got to give it death everywhere to have it adapt in a good way? Haha

Thanks Kyle
