vRS, Engines which have required Major Warranty or Replacement

Featured Replies

If you are willing to,

so that people looking to buy used cars can know what age of car has had engine problems,

can you post when your car was first registered 'if it has required replacement parts or complete engine'

or

if you are now experiencing 'high oil usage'.

My one was a Demonstrator,

sold to a customer & required a rebuild at 4000 miles..

I am the 3rd Keeper.

First Reg late July 2010

Variant 'ABC CAVEX 01'

Engine Number, 2122** (that is 6 numbers)

Now at '10800' miles and running perfect without any 'Oil usage'.

Im not sure people would want to divulge that and risk having dificulty selling their own car!!

Although well intentioned I must agree with vRSy , potentially would find difficult to resell vehicles on a list which shows prior issues?

I was looking at things in another way, and i respect your views & fully understand them.

My way of looking is different tho,

it may actually have helped you with your residual values if the Market do not fear buying used vRS, because which engines might have the greatest chance of faults is not known.

Surely anyone with a potentially Faulty engine is talking to Skoda UK and watching closely for any problem and not accepting high oil usage!!

My intention was not for current owners really but people that may have had a vehicle and no longer have it,

or are happy with it now.

There are vRS drivers on here with Lease or company cars that will be getting returned to dealers and sold on

be it at dealerships or through auctions and there is no loss to them,

to help prospective owners.

* I was meaning people that have standard cars and have had matters resolved, not ones that have possible outstanding issues.*

Any well published and displayed on tuners stands and websites, tuned vehicles being reverted back to standard and sold will easily be picked up on by any enthusiast anyway i would have thought.!

When buying second hand i like a truthful dealer and to know that cars faults have been identified and dealt with and the car is correct.

Many cars are going back to dealers now that have been rejected & are out there for sale,

these still have a Skoda warranty and any buyer of a Used Skoda or one that has been rejected should feel they are buying a car that they do not have to worry about.

I am bumping this.

What is the harm in people that are 'getting their car replaced' or have had an 'engine replaced already', had an 'Engine Rebuilt'

or even already traded the car in,

in telling others what the Date of First Registration was?

Give prospective buyers a chance to know what models to be aware of & if the car is sorted, there really should be no problem..

IMHO SKODA / VAG is taking the pith with many owners and those owners need to take these posts from this forum and others to a solicitor. (if you have given them the chance to deal properly with providing a vehicle of merchantable quality)

if however SKODA /VAG are giving the run around.

A Legal bill and a court ruling against them in the UK might get them to behave properly to customers that are being failed as consumers and that have UK law to provide them with protection.

BUMP.

Nobody wants to contribute, even tho they got replacement cars or engines or repairs.

Yet Threads & Posts keep asking and talking about Engine Numbers & ages of cars.

George.

AKA Dazed & Confused.

George, I think it's a contentious issue mate. Don't think people want to play.

I wish that they would stop asking then in Oil consumption thread after thread on the vRS,

constantly raised subject and its no real problem for the majority.

You tell SKODA UK & get it fixed, but some appear not to be getting taken seriously by SKODA UK,

just messed about.

When we have no Oil Consumption issues lots of us say,

Then there is someone popping in asking and others saying moved on car gone,

well its gone to somebody,

probably fixed and perfectly fine now.

?So have those that got a Deal from SKODA UK signed some confidentiality agreement.?

Cant see how they can of, they come back and say cars replaced or sold, but dont want to simply say what the car was.

Just not going to help out others or cant be bothered

OK, last post or comment on the subject of High Oil Usage with MK2 vRS from me.

Mine is sorted, the lasses does not need sorted. life is sweet.
