HELP! Going to be vRS-less for about a week!

Featured Replies

Ok, am collecting my new Octavia VRS late next week, probably Thursday, but my current one is going back to the dealer tomorrow, as due to the delays on my new one my current road tax expires tomorrow, Skoda wanted me to retax it and then they would refund at a later date, but I am refusing to put up £120 for six months tax and be out of pocket for the moment, when the delays are no my fault! So reluctantly they agreed to take mine back tomorrow, put me in a courtesy car until my new one is ready, I very much doubt it will be another vRS so I think it's going to be a Pope-Mobile aka Roomster!!!

Ok I know I have the new one to look forward to, but any advice on how to cope when you dont have a vRS etc??

My new one is:

2.0 TDI CR DSG

Candy White

Black Alloys

Black Alcantara Interior

Heated Seats

Rear parking sensors

Heated Seats

Bluetooth

Columbus

Sunroof

Spare Wheel

Then in a couple of weeks will be having the windows tinted, plus will change the grill to either black or white, cant decide on colour though, will black be too 'brash' and will white look to 'subtle'? Thoughts?

Either way its a beautiful car coming, and really excited!

If I wanted to remap it at some point, how does that work with the DSG box, any problems/issues to be aware of? Also what BHP would I acheive approximately, I have a company in the Midlands that I use and trust but just wondered what other people have acheived.

Funnily enough, went in yesterday to do the paperwork and the finance quote since when I ordered the car and what I am actually having has changed, come down by over £30 per month, cant grumble at that!!!

So, any advice on how to cope without a vRS for a few days?

Thanks in advance, James.

just be glad your not me, my monthly payments are zero and it shows by comparison

poor you.......... how will you cope? one day i may have a vrs, cant even afford that silver 51 plate one in classifieds section.

hope you manage :giggle:

Black grill surround looks better. Colour coding only works on the darker colours IMO.

Not to everyone's taste but here's mine. Not my picture though so credit goes to jrw.

I only wish my payments were zero, thats my problem, I am one of these that is only too happy to pay for a car every month to have what I want, however, its the thing that I have, I dont drink, dont do lots of things that others find recreational etc, the car is my thing so thats what takes my money.

I like that, I think I might plastidip it then, if I like it see how it goes and possibly get it properly sprayed, if I dont I can just remove it, be nice to see a white grill trim though, anyone??

thats cool, i dont drink, smoke, take drugs, or anything. i did however get married, then got her knocked up........ now thats pricey

Just get it wrapped

re the remap - i believe only Bluefin can do the remap without taking the ECU out...?

Took the vRS in today, felt pretty sad really!

So, they gave me a temporary car for a few days, and yes, its a Pope-Mobile, AKA Roomster! Its OK, but I will be glad to get back behind the wheel of an Octavia soon!!!

I don't like coded grilles ( note spelling , a grill is a form of cooking :giggle: ) go black much meaner

He has (had) a white grille on his VRS. Until this Thuesday I had a white car + white grille on order, then I had a funny moment and changed it to green.

(Please note) this is all speculation as I am still waiting for my new toy :-(

From my pre-research Revo and Shark both do a remap for both the engine and the DSG box. Revo's map seems to be regarded as a bit brutal and the shark map providing a smoother curve. The other main difference is people seem to recommend the shark DSG map is done at the same time. Get a quote from both and don't forget to mention Briskoda to get a discount.

Both will probably need an initial visit to a specialist as the newer ECU's tend to need a bench flash to begin with. I may be wrong with this but this seems to be the 'theme' for the newer ECU's as they are encrypted. I'm personally sold on the Shark option as it just sounds more what I'm after. My research is based on a petrol TSI though.

Get the garage or someone you trust to do a wheel alignment check as well. Sorry you probably know this already as you've already got an Octavia II but hey...
