Symphony CD Player Doesn't turn off with the Ignition

Featured Replies

My, '03 Fabia Elegance is fitted with the Symphony CP player, all works fine but doesn't turn off when I take the keys out of the ignition, You can lock the doors and walk away, it still doesn't turn off.

I've tried removing the fuse, even left it de-powered over night, when I re-connected it was still the same, checked the wiring all seems good.

Any ideas?

Maybe the car has had an aftermarket stereo in the past and somebody modified the wiring loom to make it permanently live instead of switched live?

There is an option on the head unit to make it go on and off with the ignition, sorry I don't have the symphony manual on me, you have to hold one of the buttons for 10 secs and then find the right setting, there are also other options such as turning anti-theft led on and off etc...

I think it's the TP button you have to hold down for >2 seconds to go into the settings.

Oops, forgot about that! Looking at the manual for the Symphony you hold down the TP button for a few seconds, then press either the TP or the left/right arrow buttons to go through the setup options. To change any options use the rotary volume knob. The setting you need is the 'KEY' menu which controls the ignition key logic - KEY ON means the radio switches on and off with teh ignition, KEY OFF means the radio is controlled exclusively by the push button for the volume.

Excelent, many thanks, I'll give it a go this evening.

MOT tomorrow morning, the car has been off the road for 18 months, it was siezed by the police, when I got it there was 2 inches of water in the footwells and an inch of fag ash over everything. It's cleaned up really well, just done the brakes and a quick service, had to change the headlining and carpets as well.
