Spoilers?

Featured Replies

Been thinking of a spoiler since the first day i got my octy, of course a vrs spoiler would be easiest but has anyone fitted a spoiler from anything else? Like a honda accord or nissan primera? Or anything else..

Having had 2 Primeras, I can safely say that with the way they are fitted to the car as standard, you could live to regret it. They are bolted through the body, and have no rubber gasket as standard, hence they rub and the body rusts away - look at any gt or si and you will see what I mean.

The mod was to derust the tailgate then Tigerseal it on, hardly what you would call a longlasting plan. VRS spoiler is a much better item all round, but the choice is yours.

Hope it helps,

Phil

Having helped fit a vrs spoiler to a diesel, its the sameish to a primera as it has 4 bolts which is drilled though the boot lid and then tiger sealed into place. I made a template from where my spoiler sat and used that when drilling though the boot lid.The trouble you may have is trying to line it up and the different shape of the boot lid

The difference between the two spoilers is that the Nissan bolt insert sits flush when new but drags out lower than the spoiler face as it ages and acts like a sander to the spoiler face everytime the car hits a bump hence no paint.

From looking at the VRS item, it appears better constructed, and does not appear to suffer in this area. When I did my last gt, I made up gaskets from clear neoprene sheet to try to ease the si****ion. Was 2 years and no rust, so it may be worth a try, as on primeras, once the rust starts, it can detroy a tailgate into swiss cheese in about 11 months if left unattended.

You can make most spoilers fit if you have the know how and time

I used to have a primera SRi hence me suggesting it lol but yeah when i bought it the boot was just starting to rust so i painted it but after 2.5 years of ownership it was starting to go again.

I no the accord spoiler fits the primera too. I could do with getting hold of a P11 spoiler to see it would actually fit on the boot lid

I managed to fit a mk1 scooby wrx spoiler to the boot lid of one of my previous volvo s40's,

I got the spoiler cheap and when i tried it against the boot lid it nearly fitted perfect, so me and a lad at work made up 6 pointed bolts and screwed them into bottom of spoiler and placed it on tailgate where it would sit and then pushed down on spoiler to indent the boot lid, the we just drilled out the indents and bolted it down once painted.

I just made up a gasket from thickish double sided tape to protect boot lid

That looks like the forza spoiler ha ha

I really like the little lip spoiler that's fitted to some hatchback 4x4's. Nice and clean/subtle.

Yes. And pva glue. Maybe a corn flake box or 2.

When you don't want it on your car anymore it can be turned into tracet island. ( sorry for the old school reference ).
