vRS stubby ariel

Featured Replies

Realise today that the standard ariel is a bit too long for my liking...

Pics, links to buy and recommendations of how good the radio signal is would be much appreciated.

Thanks

6ro 035 849 is OEM part number for Skoda/VW stubby aerial as fitted to Polo,Golf,Yeti,Octavia etc.

It's about 20cm long and is a direct replacement for original long aerial. I fitted this the other day and there is no loss of reception at all.

£14.69 incl vat from dealer.

^^ Same as above, I had one of these fitted to my Octavia, perfect fit and no loss of signal.

Thanks very much for that Stormchaser. May go down this route as then at least its a genuine part too.

Would VW/Skoda dealerships both have this in stock?

Yes you can order from either dealers.

You will have to trim about 3mm of rubber off the bottom of the aerial to expose more as the thread is much shorter than the original, but it's a perfect fit after :)

Morning gents.

I am trying to fit one of these ariels to my Octavia. Trouble is, I can't get the original off. It unscrews and shows exposed thread but then after a few turns it stops "biting". How do I get it fully off?

I was to just pull, apparently some of them are a form of anti theft. Mine is the same. If I pull any harder then I think I'm going to pull it out of the roof!

Easiest way I've found is to unscrew as far as you can, then allow the aerial to lay flat parallel with the roof. Then pull it backwards, pulling towards the rear bumper direction. It requires a bit of effort but will work. When it comes out you'll see the 'anti-theft' barb at the bottom of the aerial, which causes the issue.

If you try to keep the aerial in its original location and pull upwards, it's a lot more difficult to do.

Honda S2000 aerial. No trimming needed, perfect fit. The bottom of the aerial is slightly wider than the aerial base when you look closely but doesn't look too stupid. Reception best of the aerials I've ever tried.

Pics of s2k aerial fitted please

About the best I have to hand

mk2 Fabia, trimmed a few mm to expose more thread.

I did pull pretty hard, will try again in the morning. It isn't exactly the most accessible areas of the car! I wonder who would want to steal an ariel?1

Does anybody use those Shark fin ones? I'm tempted to give one of those a try :)

I just fitted the stubby Polo one last night. I kept pushing mine down and pulling it with some force and it popped out. Looks so much better!

Any pics Phil?

Ps coilies on ;)

Meet up sometime? Get Iain out too
