Intermittent PDC "beeps"

Featured Replies

I have a 09 Limited Edition VRS (FL interior)

I have the newer touch screen boloro.

My oarking sensors seem to be nto wroking all the time. Sometimes I get a beep when I engage reverse and sometimes not.

Also how do I turn up the volume (or mute the stereo) and get the visual display working ?

Cheers

Neil

As the parking sensors were not an official option on the LE yours will be a retrofit (i.e. won't show the little picture on the bolero and won't dim the stereo).

It's just a case of whether the strep dimming is done by the sensors when they detect something or the car knowing its in reverse. If the latter then you have a chance it might be possible to code it in that the car has park assist.

Congrats on a great choice of car by the way - the LE is a much better option than te FL in my eyes (although the FL is growing on me as I see more about and as more and more new cars have the chavvy LED DRLs)

I thought they didn't come with reversing sensors. Bonus. Now if I could just get them working :). How would I code it in?

Also the car is hosing he speed on the maxidot but in kph not mph?

Great car and much nicer than the M3 I traded in for it!

I did the coding with VCDS for a guy on this forum with an Octavia LE that he had retrofitted rear parking sensors to and we got the OPS to work on his Bolero and also the volume to dim when he engaged reverse.

Never say never. It seems to depend upon which controllers and Bolero into you have as to whether it can work or not.

Without knowing the OP's setup or having a go myself, I can't really advise further.

LE's don't come with parking sensors as standard.

If you change the country setting to 'Australia' you should get MPH digital display (you'll need VCDS).

Could be a broken sensor that detects the car is in reverse! Or wiring.

Have someone stand behind you when you reverse to see if reversing lights are on when your sensors are not working.

Did you do all that simply with VCDS? I thought there was wiring, etc required and that it was a right royal pain in the proverbial.

If you fid it with software only, you're dahn sahf and willing to have a crack at mine I'd glady test you theory!

You might find that it's FL sensors that have been retro fitted that make it easy. If you've got OEM sensors on yours from factory then it's supposed to be a pain in the @rse.

They were retro fitted with a FL sensor kit, and yes it was all coded using VCDS.

There is a thread on the 'My GTI' website detailing how to change the wiring for factory fitted sensors in order to get OPS working.

It seems less hassle than installing from scratch...

Linky??...

Link to the retrofit kit or to the PDC to OPS instructions?

I'd hate to assume what you were asking for...

I have posted a link to the instructions in another thread on the same subject. Now I'm just repeating myself...

Retrofit came from an eBay seller in Ireland. I didn't buy the kit but the seller convinced the buyer which kit to get, and it worked.

Should have added that I have 10m of genuine CAN wire, 1 x repair wire and similar VAG webbing adhesive spare as I didn't need them for my retro fit.

Available to buy from me as a 'kit'. If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll list it with a price in the 'For Sale' section.
