traction control

Featured Replies

i got a hire into a muddy field today and got stuck. I pressed the ASR button on the dash so the triangle symbol came on and tried to drive away wouldn't work so i pressed it again so the light went out and tried again but the light kept flashing in and out but couldn't get the car shifted so had to get a land rover to tow me out how do you get the ASR to work properly?

Given the light was flashing, I'd say it was working.

It doesn't make your car four wheel drive or give you more traction. All it does is to try to stop you 'spinning away' whatever traction you have. If you have no traction, it can't help.

its on from when you turn the key. i turn mine off as soon as i get in the car as i find it a pain in the arse in a mapped car as its always tring to stop me from going!!!

If light off.. ASR is on.

If light on ASR is off..

If it flashes, its on and working.

Hope that helps

thanks for that i've always pressed the button when it snows so im driving with no traction control so that's wrong but does anyone know what

ABS,MBA,MSR,ASR anyone know what these stand for

Abs is anti lock brakes

Asr is a form of traction controle. **** one tho. It is. Basically a torque limmiter that cuts the power. When light flashes its telling you your getting spin it does this to a point then cuts in and cuts power. Not a nice feeling and feels like it not doing any good to the car. Just coz its flashing doesnt mean its working just means its active and knows something is not right and in effect is giving the driver a chance to let off and take controle. If not then it cuts power.

Really you want esp which works with the steering and abs to keep the car stable. Brakes each wheel individually and things like that.

Dont know what other things are.

on my VRS it has ASR, ABS AND ESP/ brack assist and Also it has a diff that divvays up the power in the wet snow etc to stop the stuck from getting lol

it also has stability controle to stop you loosing it when it gets realy wild ( a bit like yau control on the evo's but 5hitter).

If i hit a corner/roundabout a bit hard it all kicks in and kills the power and aplys the brakes.

It a mad feeling
