Should I change shocks and springs?

Featured Replies

Afternoon peeps!

My 06 fabia vrs is fast approaching 120k miles on standard shocks and springs. I would put money on the fact it rolls more now than when i brought it last March on 84K.

Also the fact when I accelerate hard it feels as if the rear bumper is going to start scraping along the floor leads me to think that the suspension is on its way out.

The shocks aren't gone as I don't have that wheel bounce you get when they fail.

Do you guys think they could do with changing? Or is the standard setup really that cr*p?

Have heard that JOM coilovers are cheaper than standard replacements, but i really don't want to be bouncing down the road.

**EDIT**

Probably worth mentioning that I am tempted by coilies, as I'd like to lower the car. But don't want to be spending a fortune, nor as above, hating the ride.

Thanks, Mike :)

My car has also just clicked past 120,000 miles and i have a full OEM set up ready to use to refresh things.

Keep an eye out in the classified section on here as a lot of people flog their standard set ups follownig fitment of coilovers

I picked up a full set that had come off at 60k for £50...
