Where's the MP3/Aux in socket?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I might have to admit to be very, very thick but....

I bought a 59 plate Octavia estate, 1.9 TDI in Feb this year. The Skoda dealer told me it was an SE fit which included a MP3 socket. The Bolero unit has looks like it allows me to run an MP3 player in it but ....despite looking in the glove box, centre console storage, the storage box to the low right of the steering wheel, the passenger door storage area and the centre console I can find no AUX in point.

Am I:

Missing a trick?

Is the car not an SE - there is no 'SE' on the back?

Or an SE fit but does not include MP3/AUX in sockets?

I am spending 10-12 hours driving to France tomorrow afternoon and was looking forward to the BBC's Lord of the Rings radio dramatisation... :(

Thanks

Matt

If it has one, it'll be in the jumbo box (ie under the centre armrest). If you haven't got a jumbo box (which I don't think was standard on an SE model) then I don't think you'll have the AUX in.

The interface for MP3 is an optional extra - if you have it there is a socket in the right hand wall of the glove box. You need a lead to connect either a USB hard drive or iPod.

The "Aux" socket takes the headphone output from a MP3 player via a 3mm socket. If you have one it will be under the centre armrest (do you have one?) under a small square cover labelled "aux".

If you have neither of those then you can transfer your MP3 files to a CD and play them in the Bolero or (probably better) transfer them to an SD or SDHC card (up to 32MB) and put it in the slot in the bottom centre of the Bolero.

Regarding missing "SE" badge - No Skoda's have a model designation badge except VRs, Greenline and L&K

Hello,

Thanks for those answers. Since the only thing on the right side of the glove box seems to be some kind of air vent and there is no central arm rest (just the normal cup holders and useful hole which just takes the baby's suck cup :) ) I'll be putting some files on an SD card tonight and hoping that works.

Thanks

Matt

the SD slot allows you to play back MP3 no problem

If you have the Bolero I would stick with the SD card option - i run either 16gb or 32gb cards in mine with approx 2.9k files.

And Scout!

We have success with the SD card thanks to some of the other threads on here.

Thank you, my drive to southern france will be bearable!
