Lowering Springs - Warranty Question

Featured Replies

I've spoken to 4 different Skoda dealers over the past few weeks and had 3 different responses regarding whether or not using the Skoda Accessories Lowering Springs would affect the normal 3 year warranty on the car. There also seemed to be several opinions on here so I spoke to Skoda UK and got an official answer.

Here it is:

Dear Mr xxxxxxx

I refer to our telephone conversation in relation to the lowering springs for your ŠKODA Fabia vRS Estate, vehicle

registration XX61XXX.

As discussed in our recent conversation,I can confirm the lowering springs (part number ZGB5J0071677A) are compatible with your

ŠKODA Fabia vRS.

I can also confirm that as long as these parts are fitted to manufacturer's specifications, the fitting of these parts will not

affect your ŠKODA Warranty.

I hope this information is of use to you.

Kind regards

XXXXXXXXXX, Customer Relations Manager

So the answer to the lowering your car/warranty question is, you can and it doesn't affect your warranty at all. I just wish the dealers knew about it! I wanted to post it here as there are many conflicting posts etc and this is a definitive answer.

Lol, I got the exact opposite from someone at Skoda UK the other day!

If they sell springs in their accessory catalogue they can't turn round and say they won't cover any warranty caused by said springs, that's absurd!

It's like saying, we'll sell you some oil but if it screws up your engine your on your own!

I have fitted the eibach Skoda approved lowering springs bought from trade parts specialist themselves, they were 100% sure they are warranty friendly and if any problems show them the invoice of purchase to back it up, then pull up there accessories page from the Skoda website itself if they still put up a fight.

My car is going in on monday for the gearbox to be looked at for the 4th time, first time ive had the springs fitted while its been at the dealer, let's see if they mention the springs regarding warranty etc :)

When you go on the accessories web site it states "20mm drop for your vRS over standard" so if I was to fit these onto my Monte Carlo the drop would will be more due to the vRS being lower to start with?!?

Quite new to this lowering lark.

can you post an anonymised picture of the letter if it is a letter

Hi, i just checked the accessories site, it would appear they now list the eibach springs as being suitable for "

Fabia Hatch 2010>", I swear they used to just say VRS. Awesome news if they have changed their tune! A random question will this make speed bumps a pain or is the 20mm not such a big deal in terms of ground clearance?

I have an email, not letter.

You'd drop to 20mm lower than a standard vRS. Should be fine given the standard ride height of even a vRS Fabia!
