Yeti with best-ever off road capability coming soon!

Featured Replies

Great news, got an email today to say my Yeti 1.6 elegance 2wd arrives at the end of this month rather than the beginning of September. It comes equipped with a feature that gives me the confidence to tackle any off road or snowy enrionment.....it's a company car! The day after I ordered it, my wife informed me she wished I chosen the Kia Sportage....having spent the previous four weeks saying it's my choice! My mates think I should have gone for the Evoke (they don't have to pay he difference...). Really good news is I don't give a, well you know what. The Yeti just made me smile.

Quick question, I need a tow bar and single electrics and will ask my supplying dealer to give me a quote...happy to pay a bit more so I don't have to traipse around the country....what should I aim to pay?

Chris

By all means ask your dealer, but then try these people

VEHICLE CODING AVAILABLE

They are not in Nottingham, but I think they are the nearest who have the magic words "vehicle coding available" Not only will they be cheaper than your dealer, but they will have the correct equipment AND THE KNOWLEDGE to reprogram the Yeti electronics etc so they work properly when you have a trailer attached.

I have pulled them off the Right Connections web site http://www.rightconn...uk/distributors have a browse at the various towbar fitters (and have a look at the rest of the site as well - you will learn a lot about tow bar electrics etc.)

BTW, can I suggest that you go for the now standard 13 pin (single plug) electrics, they are much more reliable than the old 7 pin system, and now all caravans and a lot of trailers are coming with 13 pin plugs as standard. (if you already have a trailer with 7 pin it's very easy to change the plug, or you can buy an adaptor.

BUT... whatever you do DON'T let anybody just 'scotch-lock' cables to your rear lights, it will lead to all sorts of problems, just have a look at some of the posts on here.

Enjoy your Yeti - it's a great vehicle...

P.S. I paid £355 for a Westfalia Fixed towbar with 13pin ectectrics, including caravan charging and fridge connection, fully fitted and programmed on my drive at home. I used MDS Towbars (01706 642302) and several others on here have done so too - they are mobile (they have about 3 vans) but are based in Rochdale - they may come as far as Nottingham

Thanks for the feedback, I have suffered from the 'Scotch-lock' brigade in the past! I may have to visit Yorkshire on some 'vital' business trip and get MDS to do it when I am up there.

Cheers

Chris

Rochdale is in Lancashire (north of Manchester) !

Disappointingly the dealer has said they will do a fully fitted tow bar, electrics and reprogramming for £325 plus VAT... I mean where is the fun in driving half way round the country to save forty quid now?? Good news is the Yeti arrives next week too.

Chris

I can confirm that a Yeti company car is more likely to perform the odd risqué manoeuvre compared to an owned and loved one.

I got the tow bar as an option throughout the dealer and it made very little difference to the lease cost, a couple of quid a month if that, it is a westfalia detachable job, might be worth asking your employer.

Good luck.

That's a bargin (for a Skoda dealer) snatch his hand off!
