Just ordered a 1.2 Urban

Featured Replies

Been lurking here for a while to do some research and just decided to jump today. I've had a Fabia from my local garage for 5 years but have decided to change it as the kids are outgrowing it. I tried to do a deal with the local garage but they weren't being particularly great about offering me a anything, just seemed a bit pushy to be honest.

So, onto the internet I went and found a couple of garages which beat my local by a few £100s for a total cost to change (including a part ex). Tried both of them to see which could get the colour I wanted at the best deal and, despite a promising start from #2, #1 came in around £300 lower than the other so I've ordered a black Yeti Urban with the red seat trim. Now for the (apparently) 2 week wait for the car to come from the port to the garage and then a long drive to pick it up.

Can't wait!

You will not be disappointed (from a fellow Urban owner).

Thanks. I've been wanting something bigger for quite a while but had to think practicality for low mileage (8k per year) and a possible learner. This one, however, is all mine.

A couple of quick questions for anyone who has an Urban (or maybe the others).

  1. I'm thinking of doing the sunglasses holder mod which is in one of the pinned topics. Has anyone tried this on an Urban and did it go ok?
  2. Is it possible / advisable to fit the variable boot floor in there?
  3. Does it come with mud flaps? If not, does it need them?
  4. I'm picking it up from a garage a long way from home. Are there any common 'gotchas' to check for before I leave the forecourt? Planning on checking all the lights, windows and other switches etc. and I'll have a 300 mile drive down with it to check how it's running.

I'm happy enough to order the bits online and can manage most of the stuff myself (hopefully). Just looking for some advice from those with experience.

Should have no issues fitting the glasses holder

Yes again I believe you can fit the variable boot floor, however you cannot fit the spare wheel and false floor at the same time.

No mudflaps as standard; officially the front ones are not supposed to fit with the wheel arch trims but I understand it can be done.

Take a tyre gauge with you and check the pressures, brought mine home with 3 bar in each tyre. also oil, coolant and windscreen wash, oh and the suspension hasn't still got the transportation blocks fitted (not unknown).

Lastly make sure it's to spec; all options are there and work.
