3 year service plan value ?

Featured Replies

My Scout has been to have its second service today. Just after we bought it we took out the 2 year service plan which cost £299 with £100 of vouchers.

Today the Dealers have offered me a 3 year service plan for £630. Granted this price will be fixed but it seems to me to be pretty poor value considering a minor service is around £130 and a major £250.

Am I missing something ?

Probably includes a couple of mot's and fixes if it fails on anything

Does say it includes mots but no mention of fixes if it fails.

Hmmm, that does seem expensive: I paid £249 for a two year service & MOT package. The MOT cover is up to a value of £750 on SOME failures, but not everything (tyres, etc).

Does this plan include the cambelt/waterpump replacement at 4 years?

My Scout has just had its second service under the the 2year service plan at £299 deal (I only got £50 in vouchers, BOO!). I took out another 2 year service plan, but this one includes 2 MOT's with MOT insurance and that was £299. No vouchers this time.

If your plan does not include the cambelt replacement, and going by your servicing costing calculations it would be cheaper to pay for them individually,

However, if it does include the cambelt/water pump replacement, then I would bite their arm off as it would save you £229!

Fin69 it's a Tsi so it's chain driven. Does the car have its first mot at 4 years or 3 ? Does anyone have a list of the allowed mot failure bits ?

First MoT in UK is at 3 years.

Sounds like it may be specific to the particular car then, cos mine taken out a few months ago is £50 cheaper than yours, and I DID get £50 vouchers (got £100 first time). Mine has a cam chain, not a belt and therefore doesn't need replacing. This'll cover my 4th & 5th services.
