No backlight on headunit...

Featured Replies

Just got my 01 Octy VRS, Skoda symphony headunit doesnt light up in the dark, is this an easy problem to fix or would it need to be taken back to the dealer to sort? Works fine otherwise, just that the lcd panel has no backlight...

does it also turn off after 1hr?

If so I suspect it's a soft coding issue.

Haven't had it on for a full hour to see, will try when I get home, either way, I presume it would be best for the dealer to take look at it?

If it's soft coding then you need the dealer diag. tool or vagcom. 30 second job though if it is that (was on mine and dougal's).

So is it a relatively common probem with these headunits? Relieved to hear its simple enough to fix, if it is the same problem you had...

Radio turned itself off after an hour this morning, just as EddyH said, but had already taken it to dealer yesterday, who said that it needs a new headunit, didn't know anything about soft-coding problems, replacement should be covered under the 3month warranty I got with the car shouldn't it?
