Throttle Body Alignment for petrol cars

Featured Replies

I was wondering if it was common knowledge ( I did not know) that when the battery is disconnected you need to realign the throttle body with vag-com . It apparently gets confused and the timing does not operate properly, I thought my map had lost its settings, then I remembered awesome gti did this when I had a new diverter valve fitted and my battery had been off. I had not realised it was because of my battery . The dealers are unaware of this also as they had disconnected my battery to put a new air con compressor, http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Throttle_Body_Alignment_(TBA)

Yep, I knew about it. Our Lupo has once or twice run badly (hunting) if the battery gets flat, and a TBA sorts it.

Just want to spread the word , shame the dealer did not know :giggle:

So when I disconnected it the other day to take the seats out, did I f*ck something up?! Seems to be running okay... bit confused!

If it's running OK, don't worry too much. If you know soemone with VCDS, get it done in case. I don't know about other cars, but when the Lupo needed it, it hunted badly when cold.

What do you mean, 'hunted'?

Tickover revs up and down like a whore's drawers, and surging under light throttle.
