Electric mirror switch replacement / door disassembly

Featured Replies

Managed to bash the knob off my switch with my knee while getting in hastily the other day. Lifted my foot over the sill just a tad higher than usual, my knee whent a bit further forward than usual and BAM!

The shaft of clear plastic that secures the knob to the swtich and carries the illumination to the knob from the lamp at the base has completely snapped, and so I see no prospect of repair.

So I am already in posession of a replacement switch (almost £30 delivered; grr) and now the question is how to fit it.

I can see no obvious way to pull off the driver's door card to do the swap. Does it all unclip, or do I actually not need to do this at all?

Are there instructions / diagrams available to advise, or has anyone else on here ever had reason to replace their switch?

Obviously a bit urgent to get this sorted as I can't dry / defrost my mirrors, and, crucially, cannot make any adjustments to them whatsoever without a functioning switch.
