Hi all and help needed with droning noise - Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi All

Recently bought a 2010 octavia VRS (petrol) - an excellent car in all respects - BUT - it has started making a very strange intermittent droning/rubbing noise at speeds of about 70 - 80mph. It appears to coming from the nearside front.

Sound file here:

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Reading the title of your post i thought it was a request for a Hit man,

but i see that even jokes about buying her a bus pass are not fitting to your question.

Sorry not listened to the noise, but just the same,

Can i suggest that you get the Pads & Discs, calipers & Wheel bearings checked, dust shields etc etc.

At least get something checked by someone if you dont know how to.

Check tyre pressures & wheel nuts yourself now and dont drive at that speeds untill things are checked.

all the best with it.

EDIT PS,

check for the inner wing liner being secure and not moving/rubbing at speed.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi all new to the site as a poster but a frequent advice seeker. I have this exact noise at various motorway speeds, just wondering if anyone has had this before and got it sorted. Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like the high frequency reverberation of possibly the engine under tray, check all the fixings are in the under tray and tight. I will lay money on it being air flow related and something reverberating. IMHO, I would not put it as anything mechanical.

Without sitting there cannot give anymore than that.
